Resumen
La constitución mixta es un concepto político pre-moderno que no puede confundirse con otros modernos como la división de poderes. Con el objeto de aclarar las dificultades de la constitución mixta, en este artículo haremos primero un breve repaso de cómo ha sido abordada por los filósofos de la Antigüedad, Edad Media y Renacimiento. Después analizamos sus principales características. Entre ellas destacamos que, en contraste con la constitución moderna pensada para el concepto abstracto y homogéneo de pueblo, se trata de un concepto adecuado para reflejar la complejidad social, ya que la estructura constitucional y el gobierno mixto mimetizan la pluralidad y diversidad presente en la comunidad.

Abstract
Mixed constitution is a pre-modern political concept that cannot be confused with other modern concepts such as the division of powers. Aiming to clarify the difficulties of the mixed constitution, in this article we first briefly review how it has been approached by philosophers in Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. We later analyse its main characteristics. Among them, we highlight that unlike the modern constitution — thought up for the abstract and homogenous concept of people — a mixed constitution concerns a concept adequate to reflect social complexity, since constitutional structure and mixed government mimic the plurality and diversity present in the community.
