Nota biográfica
Dr Frank Foley is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations at the Department of War Studies at King's College London. His research lies at the intersection of comparative politics and international relations, with a focus on counterterrorism, human rights, intelligence and security policy. He was a García Pelayo Researcher at the CEPC during 2011-13 on a project entitled, ‘Violating Human Rights in Counterterrorism: When do States Cross the Line?’
Prior to this post, Dr Foley held post-doctoral fellowships at Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Co-operation (CISAC) and at the Department of War Studies at King's College London. He is the author of Countering Terrorism in Britain and France: Institutions, Norms and the Shadow of the Past(Cambridge University Press, 2013). His works have appeared in various outlets, including the European Journal of International Relations, Security Studies, the Review of International Studies, and the European Journal of International Security.
He holds a PhD in Political Science (2008) from the European University Institute in Florence and an MPhil in the History of Political Thought from the University of Cambridge. He conducted research on the Northern Ireland conflict at the University of Ulster during 2004 and worked as a journalist in Brussels between 2001 and 2003. In 2010 he received a “Terrorism Research Award” from the US National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START).
