Resumen
Este artículo desarrolla un análisis retrospectivo de la regulación del Poder Judicial federal en México en el marco de las constituciones del siglo xix; especialmente, se dedica al estudio de las reformas que dicho poder experimentó durante el siglo xx, en el contexto de la Constitución de 1917, aún vigente, advirtiendo que las modificaciones constitucionales más significativas de ese siglo tuvieron como objetivo colocarlo bajo la égida del presidente de la República y con ello mermar su independencia. El experimento de convertir a la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación en Tribunal Constitucional, concebido en 1994, no se consolidó. Cuando la Corte, tímidamente, empezaba a ejercer de contrapeso al resto de los poderes, el presidente presentó una reforma constitucional radical que modificó su forma de integración no solo en el ámbito federal, sino incluso en los estados de la República, lo que vuelve a poner en riesgo su independencia.

Abstract
This article provides a retrospective analysis of the regulation of the federal judiciary in Mexico within the framework of the 19th century Constitutions. It specifically examines the reforms that this branch of government underwent during the 20th century, in the context of the 1917 Constitution, which is still in force, warning that the most significant constitutional amendments of that century were aimed at placing it under the aegis of the President of the Republic and thereby undermining its independence. The experiment of converting the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation into a Constitutional Court, conceived in 1994, was not consolidated. When the Court, timidly, began to act as a counterweight to the other branches of government, the president presented a radical constitutional reform that modified its form of integration not only at the federal level, but also in the states of the Republic, once again jeopardizing its independence.
